This weekend, I wandered into Ballard for Julefest – A Nordic Holiday Celebration, and it felt like stepping straight into a Scandinavian winter village wrapped in candlelight and community. The air carried the scent of cardamom, pine, and smoked salmon; warm lights glowed against the chilly November air; and every corner of the festival buzzed with quiet, cozy magic.
Inside the National Nordic Museum, I took my time exploring handcrafted ornaments, vibrant textiles, carved woodwork, and pastries that tasted like someone baked a memory. Outside, lanterns flickered along the walkways, and families, couples, and friends all drifted through the space with that soft holiday calm only a cultural celebration can spark. Seattle’s winter season always asks us to slow down, and Julefest felt like the perfect invitation. A weekend of warmth in the middle of the cold. ❄️✨
