Set in the Mississippi Delta during the Jim Crow era, the story follows twin brothers—brilliantly portrayed by Michael B. Jordan—who return home after WWI only to find themselves up against not just racism, but something far more sinister.
This is not your average vampire story. Coogler reimagines the genre with cultural depth and emotional intelligence, threading in themes of generational trauma, spiritual resistance, and the enduring legacy of Black Southern identity. The cinematography by Autumn Durald Arkapaw is lush and shadow-drenched, while the soundtrack—steeped in Delta blues—feels like its own character.
