🎬 Film Friday: Together – Horror That Gets (Way Too) Literal

Caught Together last night at SIFF, and wow — this isn’t your sweet countryside romance. Written and directed by Michael Shanks in his debut film, this isn’t just about the horrors of codependency — it is the horrors of codependency.

Alison Brie and Dave Franco, real-life partners, star as Millie and Tim, whose already fragile relationship is stretched to absurd new heights after a supernatural mishap literally fuses their bodies. Yes — they become physically intertwined. This is part Cronenberg, part romantic satire, and all visceral. The practical effects are both impressive and horrifying, and the tonal whiplash between tender moments and grotesque fusion is sharp. It’s uncomfortable, clever, and stays with you. Not for the faint of heart — but if you want a horror that’s as emotionally daring as it is shocking, this is one to see.
