Film Friday: Crystal Cross ❌

Last night at SIFF Cinema Uptown I watched Crystal Cross, and it’s one of those films that feels dreamlike right up until it suddenly cuts emotionally deeper than you expected.

The film moves through obsession, intimacy, identity, and loneliness in a way that feels almost hypnotic. Scenes drift between tenderness and tension so naturally that you stop trying to predict where things are going and just let yourself fall into the atmosphere of it.

What stayed with me most is how emotionally exposed the film feels beneath all the surreal imagery. There’s this constant sense that the characters are trying to connect while simultaneously hiding parts of themselves from each other. That push and pull gives the entire movie an uneasy emotional undercurrent that really lingers.

Visually, it’s gorgeous. Neon light, reflective surfaces, quiet nighttime interiors, everything feels intentional and emotionally charged. Watching it at SIFF made it even more immersive. The room felt completely absorbed in the mood of the film. Beautiful, strange, intimate cinema.
