Last night at SIFF Cinema Uptown I saw The Voice of Hind Rajab — and it’s one of those films that leaves a quiet echo in your bones. Directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, this powerful docudrama reconstructs the real emergency call of six-year-old Hind Rajab, trapped in a car under relentless fire during the war in Gaza. Rather than turning violence into spectacle, the film stays in the Red Crescent call center, watching and listening as volunteers do everything they can to help her. What stays with you isn’t just the horror of conflict, but the fragile humanity in every voice on the line — the desperation, the bureaucracy, the hope and heartbreak tangled together. It’s heartbreaking, necessary, and impossible to forget.
