During the weekend, I headed over to Marymoor for an evening with Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas. There’s something special about an outdoor concert in the Pacific Northwest. The music feels different when you’re surrounded by trees, the summer air is still warm, and there’s no ceiling between you and the evening sky. Alison Krauss’ voice was every bit as beautiful live as you’d expect, and Jerry Douglas on dobro was incredible. The whole evening had that relaxed summer feeling where nobody seems particularly interested in checking the time.
I found myself just sitting back and listening. No writing. No deadlines. Just good music and a beautiful evening. Although, being a writer, I obviously still managed to collect a few details for later. Some weekends are about adventure. Others are simply about finding a good seat, listening to great music, and letting the evening unfold. I’ll happily take both.
