During the weekend, I spent an evening inside the National Nordic Museum, surrounded by hundreds of flickering candles for the Candlelight: Valentine’s Day Special. The room glowed gold and amber, shadows dancing across instruments as a string quartet began to play — familiar melodies transformed by warmth and intimacy.
There’s something almost cinematic about candlelight and music sharing the same space. Each note felt slower, deeper, carried by the hush that falls when a crowd collectively exhales. I caught myself thinking not about grand gestures but the quiet ways love shows up — a glance, a pause, a small kindness that lasts longer than it should. When the concert ended, I lingered for a while before stepping back into the February chill. The air outside was sharp, the sky a wash of gray, but for a few blocks, I carried that golden light with me — still flickering somewhere behind the ribs.
