Seattle knows how to welcome summer—with flair, laughter, and a whole lot of body paint. This weekend, I headed to the Fremont Solstice Parade & Fair, and it was everything you’d hope a Seattle summer kickoff would be: whimsical, vibrant, a little eccentric, and full of heart. From the infamous naked cyclists ushering in the parade to the stunning handmade floats, giant puppets, and stilt walkers, Fremont turned into a dreamscape of color and community spirit. ![]()

The fair that followed? Rows of local artisans, indie bands rocking out in the sun, street food wafting through the air, and just the right amount of local brew in hand. One of my favorite moments was just standing on the curb, watching generations of Seattleites wave, dance, and cheer—celebrating creativity, expression, and this city’s unapologetic weirdness. If you’ve never been, make the pilgrimage next year. You won’t regret it. ![]()
