This weekend I traded city streets for smooth strokes on the water โ kayaking through Andrews Bay by Seward Park. Just fifteen minutes from home in West Seattle, and suddenly it felt like I was in a whole different world.
The water was calm, sunlight was catching every ripple, and Mount Rainier peeked out in the distance like it was keeping watch. Even with ferries moving across the lake and Seattleโs skyline off in the distance, thereโs something grounding about slipping into that quiet rhythm of paddling.
Andrews Bay has this magic balance โ youโre close enough to feel connected to the city but far enough to breathe in that deep calm of the lake. Definitely a reminder that some of the best escapes donโt require packing a bag, just grabbing a paddle.
