Weekend Wrap: Puget Sound Kayaking 🛶

During the weekend, I traded the city shoreline for open water and took the kayak out onto Puget Sound. It’s different out there. The water feels heavier, deeper, less contained. There’s more space between you and everything else, and that space has a way of pulling you inward at the same time. The rhythm is the same, paddle, breathe, adjust, but the scale changes everything. The shoreline stretches further, the horizon sits wider, and the quiet feels more intentional.

Even the smallest movements matter more when you’re surrounded by that much open water. Early spring light sat low on the surface, breaking across the waves in pieces. It wasn’t perfectly calm, but that’s part of it, learning how to move with what’s in front of you instead of waiting for it to settle. By the time I turned back, I wasn’t looking for anything. Just moving, steady, present, letting the water carry what it needed to.
