Weekend Wrap: Seattle’s Waterways, Golden Hour, and a Golden Retriever

This weekend, I set out with Alex for a golden hour paddle through Portage Bay and the Montlake Cut—and it felt like Seattle laid out its most peaceful self just for us. We launched just east of Lake Union, weaving past charming houseboats and under the Montlake Bridge as the sun dipped low over the water.

Alex perched at the bow like he was captain of the city, ears twitching every time we passed ducks or heard the soft hum of UW’s rowing team nearby. The reflections on the water, the gentle current, the sight of the Space Needle peeking between trees—it all reminded me why I love this city so much.

There’s something magic about seeing your own hometown from a different angle—especially from the stillness of a kayak. 🌿💧
