Weekend Wrap: Wildflower Hike ๐ŸŒธ

During the weekend, I traded city streets for alpine trails and made the drive to Artist Point, one of those places that never fails to remind me just how incredible Washington is in the middle of summer. By the time I reached the trailhead, the mountain air was crisp, the sky was brilliantly blue, and the landscape was bursting with wildflowers. Every turn in the trail seemed to reveal another incredible view, with Mount Baker standing proudly on one side and the jagged beauty of Mount Shuksan rising on the other.

It’s impossible to rush through a place like this. You stop often. To catch your breath. To admire the view. To take a photo that never quite captures what your eyes are seeing. As I wandered through fields of lupines, paintbrush, and other alpine blooms, I couldn’t help thinking about how fleeting these moments are. Wildflower season only lasts a short time, which somehow makes it even more beautiful.

As a writer, I spend a lot of time imagining places that don’t exist. Weekends like this remind me I don’t have to imagine everything. Sometimes nature writes the perfect setting all on its own. I left with tired legs, a full camera roll, and plenty of inspiration for future stories. The Pacific Northwest really knows how to put on a show.
